Longest USB cable
« on: October 24, 2013, 02:55:30 PM »
I was wondering what is the longest USB cable that can be used to connect SkyRadar -D to GRT?
I am considering mounting this remotely and instead using a long USB cable to connect it to the GRT, so is there a limit to the longest USB cable that I can use?

Usually usb does not work reliably over more than 8ft cable. However you can use USB hubs to extend range. I.e cable from GRT to hub and then another cable from hub to SkyRadar.

Thanks for the info.  With the USB hub, I would imagine that would need to be a powered USB hub and I can not find any powered USB hub that runs with the 12v power from airplane, they all have a 120v  wall jack type power adaptor.

So do you know if it needs to be a powered USB hub or not.

Thanks again
